Ariana Grande recently took to Twitter to announce the name and release date of her forthcoming single, "Baby I," with a snippet of the track surfacing days later.
"Baby I" is the follow up to Grande's chart-topping hit "The Way". A single to proceed her forthcoming debut album, previously titled "Daydreamin'", now titled "Truly Yours".
The single will premiere July 22, with her recently announced 'Listening Sessions' summer tour(US), kicking off August 13th.
Sounds like the uncanny Mariah comparisons will continue. This track has Mariah Carey written all over it. The vocals, the arrangement, the production.
In saying all that, Ms Grande pulls it off. Serving young Mariah Carey realness. The production is a little too much for me. The richness of her vocals, not to mention those vocal acrobatics, make the song tolerable.
I must say, this sounds a lot like Mariah's unreleased track 'Secret Love' from back in the The Emancipation Of Mimi days. Hmm...
